Tight-knit community relishes storied history and current renaissance

The Lofty sits on a bluff overlooking Gillies Creek and the historic Richmond Trolley barn at the edge of Church Hill, known as the Oakwood-Chimborazo historic district. The area is steeped in history and lore, and is also experiencing yet another renaissance as the hottest neighborhood in Richmond.

Nowhere else in the city do you have a pre-Civil War tavern like Patrick Henry’s Pub & Grille right down the street from most-wanted-reservation eateries like The Roosevelt, Dutch & Company, and Proper Pie Co. Coffee shops and corner markets are handy, including Urban Farmhouse right down the street in one of our previous transformations. And you’re also just uphill from the venerable 17th St. Farmer’s Market, and local favorite, Millie’s.

Within walking distance of The Lofty, there are six public parks, including historic Chimborazo Park, its magnificent views, and its fenced 800 s.f Church Hill Dog Park. These are great places to recover from the don’t-blink-or-you’ll-miss-it commute to Richmond’s downtown business district, VCU Medical Center campus and Broad St. corridor businesses and arts district.
